Autumn 25

20/11/25 - We have an author called Candida Mosoma coming for a storytelling session for Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. Here is a bit of information about her:
My name is Candida Mosoma, and I’m a West End actress and the author of the children’s picture book Khanyi And The Kite, published under my independent imprint, Mbilu Tales (meaning “Heart Tales”). I created it to empower little girls to dream big and to encourage all children to be curious, bold, and brave.
Khanyi And The Kite is a joyful Afrocentric picture book for children aged 3–7, a story about courage, imagination, and the special bond between a little girl and her grandmother.

Art Week and Book Week 2023

We are very happy to announce that we have a fabulous oral story teller called Wendy Shearer joining us in Art and Poetry weeks. She will be performing for all year groups.
Her sessions are very engaging with music (including percussion instruments) and she uses colourful, sensory props. She encourages everyone to join in the stories with call and response, movement, drama and their ideas which she weaves into the tales. Together with the children she creates a unique version of the stories.
She tells traditional African and Caribbean folktales of tricksters, shapeshifters and important figures in history, including stories from her recently published books:
- Caribbean Folktales, stories from the islands and the Windrush generation
- African & Caribbean Folktales, Myths and Legends
- Bedtime Stories: Beautiful Black Tales from the past

We are very pleased to announce that we have another exciting performance booked for Art/Poetry. We are looking forward to bringing PLOT17 to school on Wednesday 14 June.
It is a hip-hop eco block party, using spoken word, lyrics, visuals and DJ-ing. Plot 17 is an interactive performance for ages 7 – 11. The show is performed by Kenny Baraka and DJ D’Vo.
The show will go ahead unless it is torrential rain, very high winds, or other adverse weather condition. Please ensure that the children have coats, just in case! The performance lasts for about 40-45 minutes and is interactive. They encourage the audience to join in with call & response and moving to the music. There are TV screens which also show some visuals. Each audience member will be given a paper wristband to wear to the show, to get them in the vibe of a music festival. These wristbands contain seeds and can be planted after the show – they will grow wildflowers.
